ABOUT STEPHEN
A native of Grant County and a graduate of Sheridan High School, Judge Shirron has deep roots in public service, influenced by his grandfather, a former Sheriff of Grant County, and his father, a long-serving Circuit Judge. He earned his B.A. in Criminology from Arkansas State University in 2003 and his Juris Doctor from Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law in 2007. Following law school, Judge Shirron maintained a general practice as a solo practitioner from 2007 to 2012 before being appointed as Prosecuting Attorney for the 7th Judicial Circuit from 2013 to 2014. He then served as Chief Deputy Prosecutor from 2015 to 2020, where he successfully handled high-profile cases and supervised over 2,000 felony prosecutions, and tried over 40 jury trials.
In 2020, Judge Shirron was elected as Division 2 Circuit Judge for the 7th Judicial Circuit and took office on January 1, 2021. Since then, he has also served as the Administrative Judge for the circuit starting in 2023. His judicial experience is extensive, having presided over more than 45 jury trials and hundreds of bench trials, covering a wide array of cases in all subject matter jurisdictions, including Criminal, Civil, Domestic Relations, Juvenile, and Probate.
Judge Shirron’s commitment to the judiciary is reflected in his active participation on the Arkansas Judicial Council, where he currently chairs the Bar Liaison Committee and serves on the Legislative, Juvenile, Nominating, and Specialty Courts Committees. He is also an appointee to the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Security and Emergency Preparedness and the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Model Jury Instructions - Criminal.
Outside of his professional life, Judge Shirron is a devoted family man. He and his wife, Helen, along with their two daughters, Madison and Reagan, are active members of Grace Church - East End. Shirron is an active member of the Sheridan Rotary Club, a Paul Harris Fellow, and serves on the Grant County Museum Board of Directors. He is also on the board of directors for the Grant County Resource Council, which oversees several local organizations, including Keeping the Faith Women's Shelter, Kathy's Closet and Food Pantry, the Literacy Council, and the Family Resource Council of Grant County. An avid outdoorsman, he has been a member of the NRA for many years and is also a long-time member of the Benton Gun Club.. Their involvement in the church and local community reflects their commitment to fostering strong family values and supporting the needs of their neighbors.
